Akolyta je hororové dobrodružství první osoby. Obsahuje standardní hororovou herní mechaniku, jako je notebook pro nalezené dokumenty, magnetofon pro nalezené audiology a baterku, ale také zbraně a prvky RPG. Vy, hráč, nebudete jen běhat, budete se moci bránit a vylepšovat své schopnosti!
Příběh se odehrává v 90. letech. Hráč převezme kontrolu nad Marshallem Primeem, který je detektivem ve městě Gorenwille. Spolu se svým partnerem - Benjaminem Blackem bude řešit počet vražd, které se ve městě nedávno zvýšily. Po dalším vyšetřování Marshall zjistí, že vše je mnohem komplikovanější, než si myslel, a že případ se netýká jen vražd.
